Foraging Bliss

Sulyap Gallery at Tahanan Pottery, Quezon City

May 13 - June 13, 2023

As you wander through the doors, one is transported into natural but deep rooted truths on foraging bliss in solitude.

The exhibition begins with a collection of seeds, leaves and pods. These delicate pieces are a tribute to the promise of new beginnings, each one a testament to the potential that lies within every vessel. As you move through the space, you are greeted by ceramic pieces of fruits and flowers. These pieces are a reminder of the abundance that can be found in the natural world and a celebration of the joys of foraging.

The fox naturally emerges through nature. With his endearing mannerisms and a peaceful stance, the fox serves as a symbol of the modern man journeying with himself. The act of foraging whatever vessel life gives to him and his journey of acceptance eventually makes the fox a vessel of bliss himself - open to be foraged by others as well.

This journey of the fox from seeds, pods and flowers shows that one can forage joy - whichever  vessel he has currently in life as nothing is ever permanent. This is shown through the intricate designs from the artists that shows a sense of peace and tranquility that permeates the space. These pieces are designed to remind one of the simple joys of life and to encourages one to embrace the wonder and beauty that surrounds us every day - in the quiet, in the ordinary and in the mundane.

In a world that often glorifies busyness and constant connection, Foraging Bliss provides a welcome respite. It is a celebration of the quieter moments, the ones where we can slow down and take stock of the world around us if we only take the time to look.
