Let's get ice cream
Today, I sit on a bench in Turin with my watercolor pad, enjoying the warm and lovely summer weather of Europe. I had planned to paint the city's beautiful buildings, but instead, I'm drawn to the many couples passing by. It warms my heart to see how they hold each other, exuding a quiet sense of calm reassurance. They move together so seamlessly, like leaves falling, like breathing—so natural and unchoreographed.
That must be love, I suppose.
As a couple passes by, I hear one of them say, "Let's get some ice cream." They are followed by a stream of other couples—some just sitting, some seemingly doing nothing, yet it feels like they have everything.
In this series, I create narratives about the strangers I've observed in Turin and Milan. I wonder what it's like to have someone know you so well, like they are an extension of yourself. You wouldn't even have to ask if they want ice cream; you would just know.
